No timing light adjustment method
① First adjust the contact gap of the distributor to an appropriate level.
② Find the top dead center position of the 1st cylinder compression. Remove the high-voltage branch line from cylinder 1. Remove the first cylinder spark plug with the spark plug sleeve, plug the spark plug hole with your thumb or cloth, and then shake the engine crankshaft. When you feel resistance from the cylinder, slowly crank the crankshaft and observe at the same time so that the timing marks are aligned.
③ After the above parts meet the requirements, turn on the ignition switch, loosen the fixing screws of the distributor housing, and turn the distributor housing to close the breaker contacts. Then rotate the distributor in the reverse direction until the contacts of the distributor have just opened. At this moment, you can see a small spark between the contacts. Then tighten the distributor housing fixing screws and adjust the octane number to Zero position; at this time, the direction pointed by the sub-fire head is the 1-cylinder position.
④ Insert the high-voltage branch line on the distributor cover according to the ignition sequence, and tighten the screws by hand to temporarily fix the distributor.
⑤ Start the engine and check the ignition timing. If the engine ignition system and fuel supply system are well adjusted at this time, the engine exhaust pipe should drip water, and the engine vibration and noise should be minimized.
Timing light adjustment
① Start the engine to warm up to reach normal working temperature.
② Connect the two black clamps of the ignition timing lamp to the positive and negative poles of the battery, respectively, and clamp the sensor to the high voltage lead of the first cylinder.
③ Adjust the engine speed to normal idle speed, and use the ignition timing light to illuminate the timing pulley, and check whether the mark on the pulley is the angle specified by the manufacturer (generally 6 ° ~ 10 °).
④ If adjustment is needed, loosen the distributor screws, use the ignition timing to align the timing pulley, and then rotate the distributor (turn left and right) until the scale mark is at the specified value, and finally tighten the distributor screws.
